Datim were asked by the client to take a large vacant commercial unit and prepare it for the new incoming tenants by splitting the unit into three separate units.
The works which include large periods of out of hours and 24hour shift working and comprised of stripping back the existing unit over four floors and also stripping back and reconfiguring and installing new M&E for the new units comprising of mechanical, electrical and sprinkler systems.
Datim also stripped out escalators and staircases between floors and infilled, during this additional asbestos removal works were identified and incorporated within the programme ensuring the client could hand over on time to the new tenants.
Due to the nature of the works and the tight programme required by the client with the architects Datim advised on changes to the design of certain elements of the structure to speed up the works such as changing blockwork walls to secure stud walls similar to those used in police stations and court buildings thus saving time.
The works which have just completed have finished exactly on programme and budget despite many changes to the M&E requirements to the units and the asbestos works.
