Background

Datim were appointed on a design and build basis to undertake the refurbishment of the top floor office space at Eldon Court Newcastle to create new space for the Newcastle Chronicle Office

Scope of Works / The Project

The project had to be completed in a very tight timescale with the completion fixed so the incoming tenant could work seamlessly on their media output. The added difficulty of working in a town centre location in the top floor of an occupied office block also had to be considered.

Starting with a fixed end date Datim undertook the completion of the outline design and commenced on site for a 16wk build period worth in excess of £1.2mill the works comprised of the following

• Full design works including M&E design
• Strip out the existing fixtures and fitting
• Plumbing, Mechanical. HVAC works
• New incoming infrastructure
• New partitioning works
• Decoration
• Flooring

This very challenging project cam in under the original budget and ahead of the clients required schedule thus enabling them to move office space within the allocated time schedules.
